Here for your delectation is theSPECTACULAR & RARE------------------OFF LIMITS by Hans Habe.Hans Habe was one of the United States' key players in psychological warfare in WWII. Born in Hungary, fluent in four languages, trained as a journalist, he first volunteered for the French Foreign Legion at the outbreak of the war, when the US, under Franklin Roosevelt, had not yet entered it. He was taken prisoner by the Germans, escaped from captivity, made his way to the US where he had a superior career, also in the US Army. In 1945 Eisenhower, under Roosevelt's directive, gave him the responsibility to re-establish newspapers in occupied Germany. The idea was to re-educate the Germans and begin to install democracy in a country which still struggles under this concept. The book is fascinating, a true-life account of Germany and Austria during the years right after the war. Political intrigues, the country subsistent from the black market, true personalities and whatever ethics existed became visible. Habe explains and documents the naive mistakes made by Washington, first chasing even low-level Nazis but very soon reversing to appointing key Nazis to important positions. Anyone interested in foreign affairs will re-read the book several times. Habe, at the final period of his life, lived again in Europe, in Ancona, the Italian part of Switzerland where he wrote some ten other books, factual accounts of present history and novels. Most became bestsellers in both English and German, many translated into French and Spanish. Janos Békessy, better known under his pen name Hans Habe (12 February 1911, Budapest – 29 September 1977, Locarno) was an Hungarian-Austrian writer and newspaper publisher. From 1941, he held U.S. citizenship. Habe used also the pseudonyms Antonio Corte, Frank Richard, Frederick Gert, John Richler, Hans Wolfgang, and Robert Pilchowski.NOT TO BE MISSED!!ALSO AFABULOUS COLLECTIBLE!!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!This is the softcover statedCREST FIRST UNCENSORED ABRIDGMENT Edition from MARCH 1958.Both the cover and the book are in excellent condition.
